Intensive workshop for the development of documentary projects
For producers from Corsica, Mallorca, Sardinia, Sicily and Portuguese islands
in Ajaccio (Corsica) – From May 7th to 12th, 2021
A unique opportunity to get a deeper insight into international co-productions
and to reinforce the networking with International professionals
For over 20 years, EURODOC – International Lab for Creative Documentary Production - has been training generations of professionals across Europe. Its main program, designed for producers developing a documentary feature project with international potential, has consistently contributed to train engaged and passionate creative producers from all over Europe and beyond, now part of a network of more than 1000 professionals.
In 2021, the first of the three sessions composing the yearly International program will partly take place in Ajaccio, thanks to the collaboration of Cullettività di Corsica & CorsicaDoc.
From May 7th to 12th, in parallel to the 1st session of the yearly international training, taking place online-, a selected group of film professionals based in Corsica, Mallorca, Sardinia, Sicily and Portuguese islands will have the possibility to attend an intensive 5-day residential workshop focusing on documentary project development to be held in Ajaccio.
During the workshop, beside the intensive work in the group, several activities will join together in a hybrid shape the international and the inter-peninsular group, so to reinforce the networking opportunities and the sharing of practices.
WHEN: Friday, May 7th (late morning) to Thursday, May 12th (Last activity: late evening of the 11th. Suggested departure: morning of the 12th)
WHERE*: in Ajaccio (Hotel TBC) - 5 nights with full board are included.
FOR WHO: The workshop is reserved for professionals based in Corsica, Mallorca, Sardinia, Sicily and Portuguese islands.
The workshop is addressed to professionals:
Only one participant per project is accepted, with preference given to the producer.
The projects can be at different stages of advancement: in writing, in development or in pre-production.
The workshop is also open to professionals participating without a project but only in the case of industry professionals involved in institutions and organizations supporting documentary films (commissioning editors, film funds).
SELECTION: the workshop will welcome up to 12 participants (6 from Corsica, 1 or 2 Mallorca, 1 or 2 from Sardinia, 1 or 2 from Sicily and 1 or 2 from Portuguese islands).
BENEFITS: The participants will mainly work on the development of their projects with the tutor in charge of the group. They benefit from full access to the plenary sessions and case studies (screening followed by a Q&A focusing on the production process) with the participants of the yearly training EURODOC21. During the workshop, the participants will be provided with a deep insight into the European documentary production sector and the different possibilities for co-operation and co-production.
Through its workshops, EURODOC has contributed to developing and reinforcing the skills of professionals seeking to work internationally on creative and ambitious projects who are able to co-produce with different countries and work with people coming from different cultures.
Alexandre Cornu, Producer (Les Films du Tambour de Soie, France)
Alexandre Cornu took part in the creation of the production company Les Films du Tambour de Soie before becoming its manager. He has been member of the CNC’s Writing Grants Commission (Commission d’Aide à l’Ecriture), CNC’s Project Developement Commission (Aide au Dévelopement Renforcé), the FACA (Regional Fund in Brittany, in 2004/2005) and of several regional Documentary Commissions. He has been President of the PROCIREP’s Television Commission in 2005 and 2006. Member of SPI (Société des Producteurs Indépendants), C7 and PRIMI (Transmedia Cluster). Member of the EDN Executive committee from 2008 to 2012. For several years now, he has been a workshop tutor – development of documentary projects – for the Femis, EDN, DocuRégio, Lussas and EURODOC.

COSTS: participation fee as well as the subsistence costs (5 nights with full board) are covered by EURODOC, Cullettività di Corsica & CorsicaDoc. Only the travel costs will be at the participant’s charge*.
